Strasbourg. Exhibition-sale at CEAAC: Johanna takes you to Kehl – DNA – Latest News from Alsace

She felt a little all trades. Advertising, design, writing. Communication at the Palace of Music and Congresses in Strasbourg. She wrote a book devoted to cooking. She ran a successful blog ("I'm not a squash"). She has created a cooking show (on Cuisine TV). She ran a restaurant, Faubourg-National in Strasbourg ("Chez Pépé and Jojo"). She has been cooking for the cinema professions in Paris. All without ever really giving up her artist soul, forged in improv improvisation workshops and around her camera trigger.

"Really go to meet a city"

Johanna Kaufmann, a young quadra, wanted to return to her first love, pushed, it is true, by some disappointments and "galleys". Her relationship to photography, which she describes as "compulsive", her taste for travel off the beaten path, led her to put down on paper these shots made on the fly. She strafed Barcelona, scoured Palermo and even re-explored, rediscovered Strasbourg, her city, to which she has always returned. From this collection of photos – she claims the influence of Martin Parr or Depardon – came out of the books published on behalf of author. And which are rather beautiful objects. "The principle is to see things as they come to you, rather than follow the injunctions of" must see ". Avoid the inter-self of tourists, really go to meet a city, "she said.

The last volume of the series is dedicated to Kehl, whom Johanna rediscovered. From this kehloise trip, funny, surprising or touching images of banality have been extracted. Images of the day after carnival, when the party is not quite over. Images of the nature reserve, the banks of the Rhine, these peaceful residential streets … She captioned the 250 photos in French and German. The book, on recycled paper, is sold 15 €. But from this kehloise exploration, also were born reproductions of larger format, limited edition, sold 35 €. A nod to the touristic tour, these photographs have, for some, been reproduced in magnets (from 5 to 22 €, depending on the lots, to put on his fridge!) And mugs for morning coffee (15 €) .

Johanna Kaufmann exhibits and sells her unusual creations on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 October, at CEAAC, 7 rue de l'Abreuvoir, Strasbourg. An expo-sale of prints and objects "ready-to-change", which she called "During that time". Everything is also to discover on the dedicated website: https://pendant-ce-temps-la.hubside.fr/
