The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are back for a new edition. While waiting to reveal the names of the winners on November 13, the organizers of this unusual animal photo competition have unveiled the 40 shots selected by the jury.
After the awkward owl and the surprised squirrel, who will be the funniest animal of the year 2019? It will take a little longer to know. The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have launched a new edition of their photographic competition which they closed the applications at the beginning of the summer. After deliberating among the thousands of snapshots, the jury has now started the countdown.
The winners will be announced on November 13th. As every year, however, the organizers of the contest were keen to give a little foretaste by unveiling the 40 finalist photos. And they are already splendid! From the confrontation between a penguin and a sea lion, to the pensive macaque and the always irresistible smile of the quokka, the photographers have outdone themselves.
"Every year we organize this competition and it becomes more and more fantastic to see how people visualize the fun aspects of wildlife in the wild", commented Paul Joynson-Hicks, professional photographer and co-founder of the competition organized in partnership with the NGO Born Free Foundation.

"Every year, we see a greater variety of species making funny things (…) it's hilarious!"But if the competition has the gift of smiles, it also aims to raise awareness about the worrisome situation of wildlife and what the public can do at home to protect animals and their environment.
"Our planet is in danger, we all know it. Now, we just need to know what to do. We hope to provide some tips to people to get started", said Paul Joynson-Hicks.
Among these tips, he recommends consuming responsibly by avoiding products containing palm oil or non-recyclable products, saving water by taking shorter showers for example and becoming an "influencer" Wildlife by communicating on social networks and engaging with protection associations.
